Yahoo targets SMB with new self-service display ad capability

The pitch: No longer just for the big boys. Targeting small businesses with ad budgets of less than $2,500/month (which probably includes many if not most of our clients), “Yahoo! My Display Ads” offers an easy, affordable way for advertisers to create banner ads and run them across the Yahoo! network in a matter of days. (Or so we read in an unattributed capsule in MarketingVOX’s Daily, 6/22.)
Yahoo’s new facility features…
- simplified creation – no designer needed, just customize banner ad templates using supplied design tools
- precise targeting, flexible billing – specify geographies, site/content categories and demographics, along with a daily budget; pay either per click (CPC) or per impression (CPM)
- powerful tracking – daily reports on clicks, impressions, conversions.
“This just opens up access to small advertisers, which we think is important to the overall market,” said Yahoo’s Senior Sales VP Joanne Bradford. Our take: certainly looks like something for the smaller firm to experiment with.
